Talk while you walk, for better mental and physical health
19 Jun 2019
Tufnell Park Underground Station , London
A special event, in partnership with Talk for Health.
Talk for Health (T4H) is a non-profit that helps people achieve better mental health by talking and listening – harnessing the combined genius and goodwill of all participants.
In June, we’re taking the work outside, on a 3hr walk across Hampstead Heath.
Author and performer JP Flintoff, himself a Talk for Health graduate, will share ideas for making your stories really compelling.
He’ll show proven techniques to ensure your audience is engaged, and wants to hear more.
JP was inspired to run “storytelling pilgrimages” by reading the Canterbury Tales many years ago. In the classic story by Chaucer, a group of pilgrims, previously strangers, tell stories as they walk towards a sacred destination…
On this special event, held in support of Talk for Health, we’ll walk from Tufnell Park Tube to Hampstead.
Crossing Hampstead Heath, you’ll experience the amazing effect of telling stories on the move.
The “pilgrimage” will end at the resting place, in Hampstead, of several figures closely associated with great storytelling. If you sign up, we’ll tell you who they are – and perhaps you’ll find that their stories have influenced you.
Although we’re ending in a churchyard, this is not a religious pilgrimage. All religious beliefs are welcome – and none.
The walk is approximately 3.3miles, and rises approximately 300ft. So you will get a decent bit of exercise. It takes about an hour without stopping, but we will regularly stop!
Please remember, we will NOT be ending where we started, but near to Hampstead Underground Station.
